Sparky Electronics has been something of a landmark in Fresno since Cheryl Cook’s father started the business in 1963. And over the years, they’ve developed quite a loyal following.
“We have parts you just can’t find anywhere else,” says Cheryl, who bought out her other family members several years ago. “We always have people coming here from out of town, so we thought that maybe we should build a website and let them know what we have.”
Of course, just because she sells esoteric computer parts doesn’t mean Cheryl is super computer savvy. “I’m not,” she says. But Innuity has made it easy for her to start moving Sparky onto the web.
“The pricing was very reasonable. And everyone I’ve talked to has been very helpful. Everywhere else you seem to get those voicemail trees, and to me support is very important. We’re new at this and starting at square one.”
With an inventory of over 12,000 parts, it was important that she be able to make changes easily, and make them herself. “We’re constantly changing product, and manufacturers are always changing prices, so I really want to be able to control products on the web.
“Because I’m hands on in the business, I can’t just appoint someone else to do it for me. But I think this is something any small business owner could do themselves. It’s very user friendly.”
